Our Phonics Consultation & Assessment is designed to help parents understand where their child currently is in their reading journey and which QFE pathway or phonics phase would best support them.

During the assessment, we gently explore your child’s:

• letter sound recognition
• blending skills
• segmenting skills
• reading fluency
• confidence when reading
• ability to apply phonics independently
• gaps or areas needing reinforcement

This allows us to identify both strengths and learning gaps so your child can be placed into the most appropriate course with confidence.

At QFE Academy, we believe children make the best progress when learning is matched to their developmental stage — not rushed or based purely on age.

Following the consultation, parents will receive:

• recommended course placement
• feedback on current phonics understanding
• areas of strength
• key gaps to work on
• guidance on next steps and support strategies
